I so want a gh1 but the lack of monitoring is preventing me from getting it. Is panny planning to release a gh2 in the next couple months with external monitoring?

I'm sure if anyone knew that there would be threads upon threads of speculation and bickering. (you know, how DVXuser seems to be these days :/)

As of now, to my knowledge no, there is no news of a release. That said, this was launched under Panasonic's consumer division, which normally comes out with new/updated models faster then their Professional division. But still, I would just buy a camera and shoot then wait on what may or may not be coming down the road.

There's an old saying that applies to this question:

Those who know don't talk, and those who talk don't know.

My suggestion: buy now (if you can get one.) Waiting is never a good strategy - you can end up waiting forever.

well my shoot doesn't begin until feb.. so I have time. Has anyone come up with a good external monitoring solution? How do people pull focus on this thing..

I havent seen anyone suggest this but i sure would like to see them put that sensor and 4/3rds mount in a hollowed out HVX/200/170/150 body.

keep the audio aspect of the cameras electronics and record to ether P2 cards (avc-intra would be nice) or AVCHD at the 24mbs the hmc150 uses.

They could just include the P2 slot and allow a dummy p2 card with an SD slot in the back and allow the user to chose depending on the job.

going to be doing green screen or short film work use the p2 card.....or
going to be shooting a run-n-gun wedding use cheep SD cards.

all of the 4/3 lenses would work in addition to all the adaptors for canon/nikon/PL/c-mount whatever.

Ultimately i think whoever puts these DSLR sensors into a real video camera body first wins.

so....if a GL2 is in the works i would like to se it look like my HMC150

Assuming a yearly pattern you won't be able to get a GH2 till next September or so even if they announce it in early 2010. It was like 4 months between announce of GH1 and release, and then another 4 months before anyone could really easily get their hands on one without putting out lots of pre-orders or being lucky as heck.

Ok fine ya'll are way ahead of me...

but i'm taking credit for the dummy p2 card. (ok so may not totally original as they have these for CF to SD adaptors)

I wonder how big the camera would have to be if they tried to use 3 4/3rds sensors in a 3mos layout? probably huge.
