Whats The Difference?

I was just curious, on the HVX what are the pros and cons of recording to a p2 card rather than the miniDV tapes? thanks all!

The dv tape can only be used for SD resolution. It stores the usual 720x480 4:1:1 ntsc flavour.

Other recording solutions on this camera use the DVCPro/DVCProHD formats and can do higher resolutions and/or data rates with more precision in color sampling (4:2:2 instead of 4:1:1 which is twice as many horizontal color difference samples). 1080p stores 1280x1080, 720p stores 960x720, dvcpro50 stores 720x480 (better that dv since it is 4:2:2) and dvcpro25 stores same quality with dv I believe.

A difference between dvcpro25 and dv is that DVCPro25 introduces PAL to 4:1:1 color sampling (the same dv NTSC uses). The pal dv we use today is 4:2:0.
