What's the best Vegas 5/ +DVD upgrade deal?.

I got Sony's Vegas upgrade promotion in my email recently. Upgrade prices are $149 or $249 for V5 or V5+DVD. But isn't there a better deal for registered users of Vegas 4?
I never seem to get the 'registered user' deals even though I is one. :( I recall reading somewhere V5+DVD was offered for $199.

Anybody have a link and a promo code? Or are $149/$249 the rock bottom best deals?

Thanks,

LHB

Go to the Sony user forums and search there. There's an upgrade deal for $199 to Vegas5+DVD2, good through the end of May.

Barry,

I found upgrades from V4+DVD to V5+DVD for $199, but not V4 to V5+DVD for $199. It's the $249 I mentioned in my original post. If you have a direct link for the better deal, I'd appreciate it very much.

I went thru this before with my upgrade from V3.0 to V4.0. Some users got a link and an offer code some got a slightly higher cost upgrade offer.

That's the one :)

The normal price for the V4 (or previous) to V5+DVDA2 is $299.95
It's $50 less until the end of May (at $249)

OK. Thanks. It's still a great price. The chance to save an additional $50 was worth the search.

Yes.. Vegas 5+dvd is almost double the retail price as Vegas 4+dvd was, so thats probally why the upgrade price is a little higher. If I remember right when Vegas 4+DVD just came out I got an email with an offer for $249 for the entire package, not just an upgrade.

OK -- any particular reason why I'd want to order the boxed version instead of downloading? I'm assuming I can burn the downloadable to a CD for backup purposes, correct?

Re: What's the best Vegas 5/ +DVD upgrade deal?.

I actually have the first boxed Vegas 5+DVD boxed version.. the very first one that came out of the factory :P

besides being pretty on the shelf, I dont think there is a real reason to get the boxed version, sure you get a manual for each but the manuals are very vague and just an overview of the product, the F1 help system is way better.

I can tell you this much . . . ordering this upgrade has been one pain in the ass after another.

First, I couldn't get it to give me the option for the $199 upgrade; even though I used the link from the promo e-mail, it kept sending me to a page where the price was $249.

Then finally, I get a $199 option, fill in the DVD-A code, click "add to cart" (which is the only option given), then it goes to an upgrades page where it tells me my cart is empty.

I've tried about 15 times now, and sent three e-mails to Sony. I've gotten no response at all.

Gotta say, I'm not that thrilled about sending them my money at this point.

Didnt you have a problem with cookies here too back when?

I don't think so, but I'll try taking the cookies filter off and see if that helps.
