What's that sound?

Often, when I am filming as I am following my subject on the move I get a knocking/clicking sound recording onto the audio, effectively destroying my shot. Its as if something is hitting agains the mic. But nothing is hitting agains the mic. Does anyone have idea where this might be coming from? It does not happen when the camera is stationary.

Are you using an XLR mic? It could be that the cable is hitting against the camera body. Otherwise it could be handling noise.

If the camera is on, you shouldn't get the notorious "click" when moving the camera.

Maybe try a good shock mount for your mic?? A lot of time sound travels a distance from abruptly touching the camera, mic cable or whatever your using to support your rig.

Got a sample?

Yeah thats a good idea. I got a 1' cable, I believe, that is the perfect length from the mic to the camera so it stays suspended out away from the camera. Dont have my cam by me, but aren't there little cable holders built on the camera in the area too?

The microphone mount has a little hook for a cable, but it's not very useful unless your cable is already really short.
