What's that screw?

Hi folks,
thanks for all the information regarding my purchase of a second hand DVX- it was in great shape, and I bought it for a very reasonable price. It included all accessoires, except for that screw you use to fasten your camera to a quick release plate etc. for use with a tripod!
Does anyone know what kind of screw (size, thread) is required?
I'd like to check this first, I have a screw that MIGHT fit, but I don't want to ruin the camera by forcing it in.

All hints highly appreciated!

Oh, ok :-) Then something is lacking with the GlideCam 2000 I got along with it...looks like that guy kept the screw.
As I am in a metric country, what in what units is 1/4 - 20... inches?

Thanks a lot!

1/4 refers to the diameter, in inches.

20 refers to the density of the threads, (as in how many threads per inch, I believe.)

Lotsa luck. I tried for a while to get one in Germany. Probably have to go to a camera shop (if you can find one) to get a "real" one. Or 2. Or 6.

I had to fly to the States to get one.

Oh, ok. I also had to come for my Father's birthday and my 30th HS reunion, but that's not the point.

Dan

Since I'll be off to the US in four weeks it doesn't matter too much if there's no fitting screw here in Germany. Amazing GlideCam-shots would have to wait, though. Anyway, I guess steadi-caming around to make shots look cool is overrated after all...
