What's that click?

I read on the technical category that "What's that click" must be a popular question, but in searching, I actually couldn't find it...there's a million hits for "click" but couldn't find the actual thing....so is it normal for the Pannie to make that click sound when it's tilted back and forth?

Re: What's that click?

Alright, I'll go first : )
It might be a loose screw rolling around in there. Kinda sounds like a packing peanut maybe?

Re: What's that click?

hmmm... i was thining it was a Keebler Elf that got stuck in there when out exploring..

...stupid elves

Re: What's that click?

no, it doesn't sound like a screw or elves...it sounds like something on a hinge that is hitting another piece of plastic inside or something...like a door.

Re: What's that click?

... there is no door in the DVX100. ..unless the elf built one for himself. otherwise there would be no need for a tiny door inside a video camera. ..you have to trust me.. i know about these sorts of things...

he probably built it to keep the light from coming in through the lense.

Re: What's that click?

It's probably the FilmLookTM chip bouncing around inside there. It was attached onto the circuitboard on the early rev 2.1 DVX's with a hinged connector, but if yours is clicking, that would tell me that the tiny leather strap at the top has dislodged. After the first generation A model, they switched to an epoxy rather then an animal based glue to attach the leather strap, reducing the incidents of "clicking sounds".

The FilmLookTM chip is what makes your projects look as good as film, and if yours is dislodged, the camera will default to the VideoLookTM processor, rendering a lower resolution image that is unsuitable for 35mm blowup.

It's all terribly complicated, are you good with glue?

Re: What's that click?

ok, I see you guys like to have your fun...yes it's a basic question, asked a thousand times, but I searched first and couldn't find it. I'm glad I found out the answer before you starting engaging in the oh so humorous activity of planting useless info. aimed at scaring users into thinking that they have a big problem on their hands...very condescending...is that what these forums are about?

Re: What's that click?

No that is not what these forums are about. But these guys are veterans and should be rewarded with some slack. When you have the same question posted in three different sections of the forum it is tempting to play around. All is good!

Re: What's that click?

This was too short . . . and BTW we need to compile these clunk threads . . . some of the answers a re real solid gold classics!

Re: What's that click?

I agree with that Mathew. I never laugh as hard as I do when I read some of those replies.

But we now have a problem. People are begining to call it click as opposed to clunk. I can see why a seach for "click" didn't yeild any results.

If someone calls it a "dunk" all hope is lost.

Its only a matter of time when some new user asks the question and you'll jump all over them! Its like a rite of apssage but different.

BTW
