GH2 What's my best choice for just 1 N.D. filter?

Omid,

Thanks for the information & link. Formatt's website is quirky, at least on my Apple devices. Didn't see any info about the circular NDs not sandwiching the coating & after a bit of Googling noted they offered 6.6x6.6" Firecrest(s) whereas their drop-down menus showed the largest filter as 5.65x5.65".

In your post I noted the great prices for the Firecrest(s) on B&H so just ordered 0.6, 1.2, & 1.8, 4x4" IRND(s). Surprised they were in stock.

There's an insanely long thread about the ProND(s) started by Kholi over at BMCuser that includes links to eBay sellers who offer discounts. Last year I got 77mm ProND(s) for $85, & 58mm for $50, from "buyphotogear" using the "Best Offer" function. They're USA based & shipped promptly.

Quirky Website indeed!
i am on an iPad and I wanted to check their 4x4 offerings and after selecting 4mm(cinema) it gave me zero density options.
So they offer all the same densities then?
what were the prices? I can't get them to display since I can't select densities.

I don't have many good things to say about Formatt; their NDs are just as bad as Lee's.

Here's what it looks like in 4k cineV all zero's with just a tad of color curves in post. Super clean and no color cast.

Super simple solution to nearly anything but direct sun on snow or white concrete. For those times I'm in the snow I'll go with two NDx4's and the polarizer and I can get to f/2.8 pretty easily. I then need to do a little red reduction in post with that much ND

Cheers,
Pete

I got a B+W variable ND. Nice to just dial in and watch the histogram to be sure I'm not crushing blacks or clipping. I use it with the 12-35 f/2.8 nearly all the time. It was a little expensive, but worth the time and hassle saved when shooting. It is also true that within a reasonable range, you can do some adjustment of the ISO to fine tune a 4-stop ND outdoors.
