I've started some threads discussing some new cameras that will soon hit the market but they were closed. I asked for some explanations but that thread was also closed . What's going on? Is RED so afraid of competition that they censor everything that has to do with other cameras?

Scarlet is pretty much vaporware.... They announced this camera almost two years ago and they still have nothing.... By the time Scarlet will hit the market(if this will ever happen) there will be tons of alternatives with much better prices and performance....
Just look at the current VDSLR-s from Cannon.....The image you can get from them is incredible and RED is pretty scared by this thing.

Actually, the answer to your original question would be more along the lines of we already have dvxuser. reduser isn't another general camera discussion forum. It's primary purpose is to act as a platform for an ongoing dialog between RED Digital Cinema and it's customers, as well as be an informational and networking resource for users of RED's products.
Other Camera's over there was an experiment and it went away. When things were more quiet from RED people needed an outlet and it was understandable at the time. Things are starting to pick up pretty quickly again at RED, so reduser is naturally shifting back towards that emphasis and away from a sub-forum that is already serviced much more in depth here at dvxuser anyways, and was marginally productive at reduser at its best. There was too much of the attacking and defending syndrome, quickly trending towards the disrespectful from all camps...
Look.....I don't disagree that RED is an adequate camera, but I don't like their Nazi tactics of censoring everything that doesn't conform with their view.
Before the censorship everyone was talking and raving about the Canon VDSLR-s until RED got pissed and decided to ban any discussion about this.
Is this the right thing??????? Where is the freedom of speech in this? Huh??????

What are they censoring? There are a million places to talk about all those camera's on the web, including this one which is owned by the same people that own reduser (hint: it's not red).
I never do get this whole censorship argument... did reduser take away your keyboard? Your ability to access any other website but it? Or your ability to start your own? I just explained quite well (I thought so, anyways) what reduser's primary purpose is. Seems like it makes perfect sense.
I don't get why people are getting worked up about a sub-forum of the freaking off-topic sub-forum, that never even existed on reduser until a few months ago in the first place. Especially, when there are plenty of suitable and far more comprehensive alternatives devoted to discussing those other camera's...
Why would someone feel the need to post about a <insert joe blow camera here> at a community that doesn't even service said camera unless it were directly relevant to the community? i.e. "might be doing a multi cam shoot that would use RED and xyzslr...what's the best way to go about intercutting these two cams and what gotcha's should I look out for?"
I don't understand what is so hard to figure out about this...

If I were on RED's payroll, then that would mean (as you imply) that reduser is owned by RED... which would mean that I wouldn't be paying for the reduser server every month on the Landmine credit card... And, it would also mean that reduser wouldn't need sponsors in order to operate as a free resource... and I wouldn't be living in an apartment with a family of four... if only.
Who said anything about defending them... Seemed like I was (attempting to defend reasonable discussion by) giving a pretty logical response to an obviously inflammatory set of posts.
Obviously that approach doesn't work... or maybe my response wasn't logical after all...

Or, maybe really misinformed and easy to grab any opinion you hear that sounds like it's against the grain. Objecting to being objective.
