I tried Edius Color Correction tools. Not very intuitive. After Effects default tools. Not tweakable enough. Magic Bullet. Too gimmicky.
I don't use Final Cut Pro, but I hear there are some really good color correction software out there?
Color Finesse has shipped with AE for ages now - it's about as comprehensive as it gets; make sure to dig up the PDF manual.
I use levels for just about everything though, unless I need secondary correction features; get Mark Christensen's AE Studio Techniques book for some solid ideas on using levels for color match & correction.
As far as color correction, it would be hard to beat Color Finesse, which is included with After Effects. It usually requires a separate installation and is probably on one of the 'extras' disks that come with AE. Finesse has nearly every color manipulation tool that I have heard of, plus the usual scopes, curves, etc.
