Whatever happened to the andromeda? Af-100 seems ideal for that kind of hack

I'm pretty sure the guys behind that were bought out or shuffled off or something, but man oh man if anything warranted that kind of hack I'm sure this would be it. There should be no reason why the camera couldn't support raw output, or at the very least enable 10 bit out of the SDI.

I was thinking the same thing the other day, especially after a DP I know showed me his old andromeda DVX he used untill the RED came out (his currently non-working unfortunatly), and some of the footage he got out of it. Unfortunatly, the technology was apparently bought by a larger company and burried and there has been no recent news from the guy who did it. It is a shame, as an Andromeda AF100 would be a killer camera... imagine, un-compressed 4444 HD right off the sensor of a $5K camera, would pretty much be a poor mans Epic...

On a realistic note, I imagine the bandwith for uncompressed 1080p at 4444 is alot more than the uncompressed 4444 of DVX. so probably would be more complicated to implement, but they did have plans for the HVX before they were bought out, so who knows...

The raw wouldn't need to be full uncompressed. It could use cineform like the SI2k. With a proper debayer it should be possible to get 4k off the 12mp chip, just like RED. But I'm no engineer, I just like to dream a little. If I could scrape together the cash I'm sure I'd be happy with the camera as is. I'm just thinking that it was possible with a relatively minor operation on tech from nearly 10 years ago, surely there must be more than one guy capable of figuring it out.
