What ype of field sixer is everyone using for the HMC-150?

What type of field mixer are people using to get good audio via the HMC-150?

I was told the Sound Device Mixpre was an excellent choice:

I am using a Wendt x2 and a Sennheiser MKH 416 with pretty good results. I bought it used from ebay which was quiet cheap

I guess anything is better than just using the HMC-150.

Has it made a big difference regarding background noise (hissing)?

I didnt try to record sound without a mixer yet, but the HMC's audio recording capability seems to be limited to a 16 Bit audio signal. For any serious project I would recommend to use an external recording unit such as a Tascam DR 100 or a Zoom H4n. These units record audio with 24 Bit and the difference is really noticable.
