GH3 What would you charge to rent out your camera?

I was asked by another local videographer if they could rent my camera for the day.
What would you charge for this? Should I just charge the going rate on Lens Rentals?

I've been thinking about this lately. Having worked in the A/V rental industry for ever a decade, I think my prices wold be the cost of the equipment / 24, plus the cost of insurance / number of pieces I was renting.

To keep the math simple, say the camera cost $1,200. Divide that by 24 and you get $50/day. Say the insurance costs $120/year. If you have a total of 10 pieces to rent (cameras, lenses, microphones, etc.) that works out to $12/piece.

So the daily rental would be $62. This assumes, of course, that you're in the rental business. If it's just a one-off thing, I'd might go with something like half my day rate.

I typically use LensRentals as a base, and then undercut that by some large amount... only really rent to people I know and like, though, so I keep it cheap.
