What would be the right Pelican case for HVX

We use Pelican 1400s for DVX at school but I was thinking to go for 1600 for my HVX. What other cases could fit HVX? Should I get dividers or foam case?

I have my HVX200 in Pelican 1510 Case. Room for camera, external mike, wireless mike and receiver, 2 extra batteries, remote, power cord, battery charger, remote, cables, dry erase markers, and a bag of connectors. Fits in overhead.

I have Pelican 1510. It's probably as small as you want to go, and as large as you can go for carry-on legal from the Pelican line.

I comfortably fit the HVX, 8 battheries (double stacked), remote, 2 p2 cards, and an sd card. I didn't want to cram stuff to close togethor, so I tried to keep it down to the essentials (besides the remote. never use it). But, if you carve the foam and align things properly, you can fit all of the above in a 1510 with ample room around your precious HVX for plenty of padding/shock absorbtion.

I just got the 1510. Love it. Fits the camera fine. Everything else I feel relatively safe checking in when I fly.

Only issue is that it doesn't sit up-right too well on some carpets, so I had to install wood-flooring throughout my entire apartment. (Never know when you're going to need it set it down.) Building manager got pissed..said there was wood-flooring underneath the carpet. Dammit. Now I live on the street. 1510 has no problem sitting up-right on cardboard.

So really, the problem is self-correcting.

If you search theres a topic with pictures of the 1510 with an HVX inside. Surprisingly roomy.

My friend and I are ordering the 1550 which I hope isn't too cumbersome. It looks to be the length and width of a pillow. I'd like to hear opinions on 1550, particularly weight.

That picture is not accurate. Its photshopped. But I have the 1510 and can fit the HVX, 4 batteries (double stacked), Charger, 4 P2 Cards, the remote, 4 mini-dvs (double stacked), an SD card, and discant gel. There is an inch and a half of foam between everything.

That's interesting. I use the remote exclusively to access the menus, its much easier than the buttons on top. I don't think I could get by without it.

Heh. I haven't had too much use for it yet. The only time I ever used it was to try out some stop motion animation once.

Oh March 31st. I should have known! The handle is huge. But that thread is useful for a couple photos people linked. The storm is undoctored, right?

Take a look at cases made by Storm Case. The weigh less than Pelican but just as durable.

What do you want to put in it? Like Jim said, the Storms are a bit lighter and that's nice. I use a Pelican 1620 that holds a whole lot of stuff. It's not intended for air travel, I carry the camera in a backpack for that.

HVX, 3 cards, 4 batteries, Petroff matte box attached, FF, french flag, (3) 4x5.5 filters, rails, power supply, shotgun mic and various cables and plenty of foam protection all around.

Nothing wrong with Pelicans, I have several. I think I prefer the Storms now.

I recently got the storm 2975 monster case for my HVX w/ rails mattebox - awesome! I will never go back to pelican. It even fits my laptop :)
