What would be my FCP Editing settings for my project?

Hi guys.

Am shooting a short this weekend and got some of the info from the board but am getting mixed messages on a couple things.

I'm shooting pretty much per Barry's normal settings with the DVX100A at 24PA for a 1.85 matte. The output of the project will just be a quicktime and a DVD burn (through DVD Studio Pro). I am on FCP 4.5 and am wondering:

1) Is it best to just shoot 4:3 and slap a matte on in FCP or squeeze in camera? Also, what would be the difference between 24PA and 24P if I am just outputing to video?

3) Am confused on the settings for capture and my timeline on FCP. Do I capture at 23.98 0r 29.97? Do I use Pulldown (I really never understood that part but want to make sure) settings? And what setting should I have my timeline at?
Will start editing right away tomorrow) so want to make sure I shoot and capture correctly.

1) I shoot 4:3 then matte in post just because I get more control over the final image.

2) You COULD output to a 24P DVD if shooting 24PA. If you're just going to regular DVD, save the hassle and shoot 24P normal.

3) Depends on what mode you're shooting. If you decide 24PA, go to "easy setup" in the FCP menu> 23.98 advanced pulldown removal> setup.

If you decide to shoot 24pn, then just setup as usual (DV NTSC)

Also, this should be posted in the "fianl cut pro" section of the forums. Scroll down a bit, my friend ;)

a mod may move this... so if you don't see it. It'll be under "Final Cut"
