Hi

I want to buy a a good Portable UHF Wireless system to use with the HPX501
now all the suppliers here in Israel are say to buy the
SENNHEISER ew-112p G2
as they say this is the best system to work with

now i also get a bad info on this system from a company that work in the wedding business as this SENNHEISER in not the best and that it has a bad reception and the range is also not so good they told me to go with the
UP4 Portable UHF Wireless from Shure

http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/WirelessMicrophones/us_pro_UP4_content

as it is the best system as they say.

it will be use mostly to transmit sound of music from the DJ console to the camera and also to use a neck-mic for interviews

so i what to get info from people that work in the field with what system do you use.

thanks

Tamir

If range is your greatest concern and your budget is around the same as the Sennheiser Evolution, add the Sony UWP to your list of items to research. I took a 200' tape measure out to a park and tested both the Sennheiser G2 and the Sony UWP-V6. The Sony won the range test with the plug on transmitter and the following test with the bodypack transmitter - it went well past the end of the tape measure. Back in the studio I didn't care too much for the sound quality of the bodypack compared to the Sennheiser G2. Do a search here on the Sony, I posted a review by a fellow dvxuser. He traded the Sony back in for a Sennheiser. It looks like the Sennheiser Evolution G3 portable series will give a bit more range with the adaptive diversity so you may want to wait until these are available. Some will want to upgrade so maybe you can find a good deal.

Also take a look at the Audio Techncia and Lectrosonics has some affordable VHF wireless that may still be in you budget. If you want the best search Lectro UHF and Zaxcom.

Lectrosonics

With Lectrosonics you get what you pay for.

I'm still using a 190 series that's about 14 yrs old! Over this time it's been in for minor repairs to lectro twice. Quick turn around! Very reliable.

I also own a lectrosonic 100 series. About a 1,000 for transmitter and receiver. Much better then wireless mics at or below this price. I've had this for 10 years, never been in for repair.

We have 2 of the G2 series and really like them. I have tested the distance/reception up to about 70 feet and have no complaints with the audio quality.

I have two the Sennheiser systems and I HATE them. Always getting interference even over very short distances, regardless of the settings or battery condition. Steer clear of them.

I never had any problems with the G2 systems, guess it depends on what band you have.

I have always heard great things about the Lectrosonics stuff. Expensive as all hell though.

To each their own though.
