photog flashes made your cam s**t itself =) what was your shutter speed? i suspect you were shooting below 1/50 one 1/60 kit lens?

I would bet that your shutter speed was below 1/50. If so this is a commmon error with the hack. Keep at 1/50 or above for 60p and 50p

hmm, yes probably to gain that extra light in that dark room with stock lens i went with 1/40 shutter.. didn't know it was a known issue with hack... should have read more..
but it also happened without flash, in the interview clip, at on point i zoom in with the stock lens (i didn't put that part in the clip) and the background went all fizzy the same...

It's not an issue with the hack itself, but in how you use the camera. Whenever you set a shutter speed slower than your selected video frame rate, the camera will cut its actual frame rate in half or worse.

well I believe it is hack related. if you up the bitrate higher than 35Mbit for 720, shooting below 1/50 will result in 3Mbit footage hence all the break up with or without flash. Henry check the mts to see what bitrate the clip is....my bet its floating around 3Mbit. These are my observations based on my testings. I am 99% sure that if you used B settings (32Mbit) you wouldn't have this issue at that shutter speed, reason why I set my High setting to 34Mbit and my FHD/SD to lpowell 40Mbit.

Guys this is an affect of rolling shutter and has nothing to do with the hack. I shot an indoor climbing competition last week and the same thing happened. I was using 1/30th of a second shutter speed with the manual video controls that the hack enables for the GF1. It gives a strobing affect and bright bars across the video with low shutter speeds when someone else uses a flash.

Check out the video below and you will see the same affect. Most of the video was shot with 1/60th of a second or faster shutter speed. However, this particular clip in the very dark lead cave was shot with the slower shutter speed and it shows the affect

I think you are talking about two different things... the reason that the vid looks so bad is because of a problem with 720p and shutter lower than 1/50 with the hack. If you see this problem happen and still need to lower the shutter then switch to 1080p and the problem will go away....

The flash problem is something different and has to do with rolling shutter...

yes, mpgx.. it is not a pure flash problem... have been using the camera for more than a year and never had these problems. I know the strobing effect your a referring to, but this is completely different... the whole frame is mud... just mud... and the flashes are the main cause, but it's just because of sudden light change i suppose... in the scene of the trophy there was no flash, just camera movement... and it is all mud/melted pixels.... i have used low shuter speeds many times before hack and never had a problem..
so to avoid it i need to go fhd if i use less than 1/50 ? actually, it makes sense.. i use 720 just for the 50p for slomo...but now i remember reading that below 1/50 you don't get 50 true frames any more but duplicate 25 , so it's best to just go fhd..

yep like i mentioned before you can go below 1/50 in 720 as long as your bitrate is below 35Mbit....if you ever needed 720 50p, slow mo isnt that great anyways at that shutter speed.. otherwise stick to 1080 like mojo suggested.
