I'm not working with HDV currently, so I can't answer definitively, but I'd suspect that you'd need to do one of two things: get a faster main box (like a dual-core Athlon 4400 like David Jimerson has), or transcode your HDV footage over to Cineform format. Either solution should get you running best quality, but obviously you should get opinions from other HD100 users to hopefully find someone who has the same combination and is getting the results you're after.

thanx for the reply barry. i installed vegas on Xeon cpu with 3,2gh. still preview was slow. so there should be other solutions.. like realtime editing hardware. i know there is a matrox x100 for dv cams. is there anything for HD ?? hard to work with bad qulaity preview and out of sync play.

Acording to cineform:

CPU Minimum: 2.8+ GHz HT Pentium 4 or Athlon 64 OR
Best Performance: Dual-core Pentium D (820 or 840) or Dual-core Athlon X2 (3800+ or greater)
Memory 1GB Dual-channel PC3200 DDR or 1066MHz RDRAM
System Drive Dedicated 7200 rpm drive - used for program storage

Rajan, I'm in the same boat with you. I'll have to purchase new hardware, I'll go for the AMD dual core with an Asus motherboard (A8N-SLI Deluxe). The problem is the price of these processors, if the Athlon 3800+ is not enought to process HD than the 4200 is the next step.

Maybe you should check this excelent site to compare hardware performances: www.tomshardware.com
