What type of clamp rig is this?

I want to be able to put an LED up on a pole to create this street-light effect. In my case I will actually black out the actual streetlight (aging sodium vapor) and just use the light from the LED. But I don't know exactly what to look for. Does anyone know what the clam is called that is shown on the picture below?

Any my tips will be very much appreciated. All the best, Rafael

Take a look around Home Depot or Lowes. They have lots of clamps. If it does not work for you, return it. I have several clamps some of which were designed for our industry and some that are generic. They all do the job. I will suggest a clamp with plastic tips. Property owners can be testy about scarring their posts, etc.

Hey, good tip about taking steps not to scar, scratch or otherwise damage any property!

Actually, for most led panels with a yoke, you'll need a C clamp with 5/8" baby spud. The "female" receiver on the yoke is meant for stands with the 5/8" pin.
You can find these clamps used as well.
Hope this helps.

Good point about the cheapo clamps. I suppose one could be combined with a super clamp for your stud receiver.
And yes, a clamp with soft pads is the way to go if you don't want the risk of chipping someone's paintwork. Alternatively, use some rubber mat as an interface.

Good point about checking what type of lin is on the yoke! All good points, actually. Very helpful!

I I hope to use either a Wasp 250w or a Skypanel C30 with a softbox clamped a bout 2-4 feet above the actor...safely out of frame. I will still go for a sodium vapor look, but softer and not as warm. Probably around 4400-4800k. I will capture the scene with camera at 5600k so the skypanel will still read as warm, but feeding the sensor more blue and green information will help a lot in crafting the look in post.

Some quick tests I shot for this, just to assess what I liked and what I need to alter. The blacks got crushed in the outside test shots, but it's ok...that is just to find out what I need to do during production.

going for a low light, more natural and atmospheric look.

Those are some hefty fixtures you mentioned. You'll need more than a simple clamp. You can get a pigeon plate, a 5/8" spud welded to a flat plate of steel with some holes in it. Screw this to a board of wood to distribute the weight and then use ratchet straps to strap the entire affair to a pole. Use a clamp at the bottom as a stay to keep it from trying to slide down the pole, but the friction of the whole rig is what will really be keeping it in place.

Interesting. The picture I posted on the first post in this thread was from the Arri video promo for the skypanels. But your experience will not go unconsidered.

Just so so I make sure I understand you: weld the female pin coupling perpendicular to the axis of the steel plate that gets screwed to the wooden panel? Any insight to how thick that plate or the plywood needs to be? I'm thinking of using the smaller skypanel S30-C.

Standard "Baby Plate" or "Pigeon Plate":

Often screwed to a "pancake" or 1/8th apple box, but you could just use a thick board of wood:

A small Skypanel weighs less than albs, so can hang from a simple clamp instead of this amount of rigging. The larger model would require more beef.

The Wasp 250 weighs more than twice that and would likely require a more substantial mounting solution.

Ah, ok. Sorry for my confusion. I said female when I meant male in my earlier post. Thanks for taking the time to clarify for me. These links are very helpful. And pancakes may be useful in various scenarios so would be a good investment.

Hey, thanks again to everyone that helped me get a sense of what I might need to replicate the picture in the original post. I just thought I'd share what I ended up doing.

Due to the radius of the pole being longer than what the 12" c-clamp could accommodate, I ended up using a split c clamp.

This is allowed me to also place the fixture farther away from the pole, which helped with my "street-light" effect. The extra inch and a quarter I got by using the split c clamp made it possible to safely hang the skypanel s-30 (the small one) no problem!
-Thanks again, Rafael
