thanks for all the help octopi

Im just probably going to flip a coin and buy one. i do need one soon so im going to order one tonight and if i end up not liking which ever one i get ill just eBay or craigslist it.

by the way what type of lens do you recommend, im thinking of getting canon fd for the price but a lot of people here use nikon.

Ninos

Well, I will be on the lookout for a used G35 (so I can save a few bucks).

I always go back to Nikon whenever I try something new.

This poll surprises me, I wonder if it is accurate to the general pop of DVXuser or biased because it will only be the people who are looking at 35mm adapter news.

6 people with an encore, and only 5 with a brevis?

More people with a blade than an extreme?

yeah, i dunno... i feel like this poll has been skewed in more ways than one. all polls have a certain degree of bias... but i feel like there may be some b.s. voting goin on - and some of the adapters are so much lower than i expected... oh well it was just for fun anyway.

I actually have two adapters. For HD I use a Brevis with the flip module (my vote since that's what I use most often). I also have a Letus 35a that I used on my DVX and is now attached to my old Sony Digital 8 camcorder. The setup needs a lot of light, so I don't have any good footage yet. I should take it outside on a bright day and see how it looks . . .

Hey all, i have a G35 Cinemek and it looks the most like film out of all the adapters i have tried.
I think when they work out the E2E , CA fix with the SGBlade and EX1/EX3, I may pick one of those up as well. Wayne is great with his dedication and support.

But for moody music video or epic film style, G35 is great, as far as lowlight SG Blade is better, but if you use the Roto Razor 2 GG (a more filmic bokeh) you will lose another 1/2 a stop when you zoom in about 77z or higher on the gg , you will lose a 1/4 to a 1/2 stop again.
G35 you only zoom in 50-55z Lex looks a little industrial for my tastes, but is good on low light shots.

So there's some food for thought.

I have the blade and the brevis.

Bokeh wise i would rate it as following

1. Blade -rr2
2. Brevis -Cinefuse X
3. Blade -rr1
4. Brevis -Cinefuse 1

on a whole, factoring other performance issues I would rate it as follows

1. Blade -rr1 -The rr1 -The best overall performer in terms of bokeh, grain, and f-stop usage.

2. Brevis -Cinefuse X - A great performer in terms of light loss and bokeh, renders colorful point light sources oddly.

3. Brevis -Cinefuse 1 - Great light loss, sharpness and low grain, smokey bokeh.

4. blade -rr2 - Great bokeh, average light loss, bad in terms of seeing concentric grain pattern at most fstops, ruining usability against any bright flat surface such as sky or walls.

I'm curious as to what f-stop you are referring to. I have shot bright sky with the RR2 at f8 and not even a hit of grain. (examples available). I was surprised that it worked so well, in fact.

I was surprised when I noticed it.. for like a month i didn't even see it until i started to examine the footage at full res. I was shooting at 2.8 maybe even 1.8.

Then I went on to the shoot35 forums and it seems as if it's a known issue with the original sgpro. The work around is to keep the lens wide open and use ND filters to adjust exposure. The rr2 will remain boxed for now on.

That's odd. That's completely different then my experience. In my case, the RR1 is staying in the box, even for indoor shoots. I just like the RR2 look that much better and other than needing a little more light, no adverse effects to date.

I have examined my footage (sky at f8) at full res and it's absolutely clear. Go figure...

this is interesting. There must be some variables at play here, camera, lens, perhaps tolerance differences between our rr2s.

I have problems with RR2 grain too, but still much prefer it over RR1... Weird - I usually like glass much more than plastic ;) In my case, it's the RR1 that remains boxed...
