SGblade to HF100 (soon to be) recorded to 4:2:2 Prores via BM Intensity Card and custom built portable HDMI recorder...waiting on my touchscreen and my Li-Ion battery controller/PCB!

i would love to see that. lex and 5d, thekreative if you have the time i would appreciate it.

adapter or 5d? lex or sgblade or g35? those two questions have been driving me nuts for the past two months.

thanks

great thread, I'm just out for a new adapter. My old DIY is not the best. Nice to see what al other people have out there, to see what adapters that are popular.

wow the g35 aint getting any love. is the light loss that bad on the g35, is that why its not as popular, or is it the price compared to like the blade which comes with a lot of accessories like rails, and stuff. when it comes to build, i think the g35 blows all adapters away. you dont have to worry about batteries or motor going out or dust. any one here that has the g35 that did not vote please post.

Thanks

Ahh, if my G35 order would arrive when it was supposed to I'd be participating in this poll but no word from Cinemek.

I used the G35 for a while then I had to sell a bunch of gear due to financial difficulties...I regret to this day not holding onto the Cinemek adapter...it is alone in its class; the absolute best made adapter on the market with a true film bokeh. I shoot with natural lighting so the low light was not a problem for me.

hey octopi

so if i was using it to shoot music videos outdoors would i be ok with it? What if i wanted to use it for shooting a movie and there was night or indoor shots what kind of problems would i run into? what kind of lighting setup would i need? or how much lighting would i need?

Thanks
Ninos

LEX here. But I will be selling it in the next couple of months to scoop up the SG blade. Unless the scarlet magically appears for sale some where.

Yes, good natural light is not a problem with the G35.

Indoor with a lot of natural light coming in I would say you could be okay depending on how much light you want in the scene, but with night shots, or situations with less natural lighting, you would need probably a bit more than normal lighting...I am definitely not a pro on lighting kits so that's about all I can say.

thanks for the info octopi. man i really want the g35 but the light loss and price compared to the blade is whats keeping me from pulling the trigger. i have the money for it but then i would not have enough for rails and lenses. the blade comes with rails. plus i see everyone jumping ship from lex to blade. if i were to order the blade today it would not come for another two months or so. if anything goes wrong with the blade then i have to ship it back to the uk and then back to us again. with the g35 there is really nothing that can go wrong. man im dying trying to decide which one i want to get. i need one right away. i have like three music videos that need shot end of june/beginning of july. it will be my first adapter so i must choose wisely.

any suggestions?

thanks

Marduk...I want one too :).

Seriously, if you can wait, the wait is worth it for the G35. The light loss is not a lot when you compare it against what you get. The bokeh really is a true film bokeh. You can look at footage from other adapters and look at how some of the specular highlights come through too much on those adapters, or it resembles nothing more than a duffused blur...meaning it is not diffused enough to represent a bokeh that you see in film. People talk and talk about film look but the Cinemek adapter really is the only adapter that has a handle on what the bokeh is supposed to look like. I am not trying to convince you one way or another, I just have some strong opinions when it comes to the film look.

Anyway, I could go on all day...no Jonathan is not paying me...I just really like the product.

ok so if you were to choose between the two and you could only use one, which one would you choose. Now be very honest please lol because the one you say will be the one i will be buying today. no joke.

thanks
Ninos

Marduk,

If you are doing a lot of low light stuff you probably won't be happy with the G35, other than that I honestly think you can't go wrong with it. But...there is an adapter for everyone according to needs.
