Hello guys maybe someone can give me some ideas... Im using vegas 9c pro... and i am already using a pretty good setup here, its a core 2 duo 2.6 on an intel g31 board with 4 gigs ram, on a 9500nvidea 1 giga gpu, running windows 7 with no problems at all, but it seems that using avchd is still not very stable on this setup, and im not able tu upgrade to a quad processor, so im thinking maybe there is an option for a better workflow, maybe converting the video before edition, but what would be the best format? avi? wmv? mov? and second what would be a pro conversion quality converter? canopus procoder? or what else?
hope anyone has any ideas! thanks.

Panasonic has a program free to download that converts AVCHD footage (such as the the footage that the HMC150 makes) into DVCpro which is a lot easier to edit.

I have a g31 motherboard and it can accept a quad core chip. what is your motherboard? sometimes a bios update is all that you need to be able to pop a quad core in there.

ChirssMC, I have a computer configuration similar to yours and also use Vegas 9. I find that 720/24p is the only format I can comfortably edit without converting to another format.

Mostly, I use Cineform NeoScene to batch convert to cineform AVI. The resulting files play and edit quite well in Vegas and have the added advantage of being 4:2:2. The cost is quite reasonable (about $100).

If you want to save some money and disk space you can convert to Sony MXF files that are almost as lossless as the Cineform AVI and play and edit even better in Vegas (they are about half the size of the Cineform AVI files). The disadvantage is that not much else knows how to deal with these files. There is a free script called "Proxy Stream" that will batch convert your AVCHD files in Vegas.

Thanks Guys Its valuable info i will see in to that neoscene and will also look for the panasonic app. Appreciate it!
Yes i have a g31 board. im thinking of a quad but will see .
