I was wondering what was the resolution on the HVX200A? The Red One is 4k, The Canon 5d mkiii Raw is 2.5k Thanks

Are you talking the resolution of the sensor or the final image? Either way if resolution is what rings your bell you don't want to be comparing the HVX to the other two. Not even close to a fair comparison. The HVX has a sensor that I believe from memory is 960x540 but this is misleading because it is 3CCD and uses a technology called pixel shifting to make the native resolution 1280x720 progressive. But through some panasonic wizardry it can deliver 1920x1080 although this is interlaced (1080i, although this can be rendered to 1080p in post). So HVX is capable of FullHD but really shines at 720p.

If you are concerned about aesthetics then the HVX is a little softer than the other cameras you mention but is well-known for having a more film-like look out of the box. Personally I like it but if you are comparing it to RED then it might not be what you are looking for. It doesn't have interchangeable lenses and a 35mm lens adapter might be required to get the shallow DOF of the other two. That said a HVX combined with a lens adapter, particularly the red rock has a very film-like look.

Red One is something like 3.8K for a mono image and Jim Jannard himself described it as something above 3K. This is on account of its beyer sensor. It basically uses some magic tricks to get the "4K" image, just like the HVX uses its own set of tricks as Eggs suggests above.

When you talk about the Canon Mark iii raw image at 2.5K I assume you are meaning a camera hacked with magic lantern?
The canon also has a beyer sensor of course.

Anyway resolution isn't the only important factor to image quality anyway. Many would I'm sure argue that raw is more significant.
