What the heck is this?

Please see the image below. I shot in 24P F6 and captured with premeire and DVrack and in my footage part of his face looks like a cheese grater went through it. Is this because of intelace? I even captured again in vegas and still see it. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

That's DV's 4:1:1 color sampling. Nothing wrong with the image (as per DV specs) and it'll look great on a television.

If you want to use it for computer use or extract stills, try the Vegas chroma blur filter, on the horizontal only with a setting of about 2 pixels, and it'll work wonders. But don't bother doing that for something destined for television, because when it gets recompressed to DV it'll re-introduce the "stairstepping".

Nothing bad -- there's a different thread going on about the contents of Pooh's purse, and BlueSpider has photoshopped in some other people's photos as if she's carrying around their photos in her purse.
