What tapes for the DVX100b

Hi

Just purchased a Panasonic ag-dvx100b. I just wondered if the camcorder worked better with a certain brand of tape? The camcorder came with a bundle of 40 sony premium tapes. Is it good to stick with these or should I switch... Or doesn't it really matter?

Thanks
Kevin

40 sony premium tapes.. i think you must have bought the dvx lot on ebay that i was interested in, wish i had had the money. Fortunately I just purchased a dvx100 from a mate, although it's pretty rundown and it's got no accessories, but after using my university's one for a good few years I wanted one of my own. The only thing i can say for sure on the subject of tapes is stick to one brand if you can. I'm told different tapes have slightly different lubricants, and some very different. As far as Sony Premium tapes go, they've never let me down, i've tried the Sony High Definition DVM63HD mini-dv tapes and saw absolutely no difference, just double the price. If you've bought the camera second hand like i have, i'd stick to the tapes that were being used with the camcorder originally, i'm just glad mine's been using sony premium's all it's life, i get a bad feeling about jvc and others, don't even know why..

Brilliant, I'll stick with my abundant supply of sony tapes then! Yep, thats the one (the ebay listing). Unfortunately the camcorder has a rattle. It sounds like it's in the lens area as well. I haven't even turned it on yet as I'm waiting for the seller to get back to me about it. A bit gutted really. When the camcorder is tilted backwards and forwards on its axis point there is a definite shifting of something! Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks
Kevin
