GH5 What shutter speed setting for VFR slow motion on GH5?

How do you set the shutter speed when it comes to VFR slow motion on the GH5?

I have read mixed responses on a Sony post regarding using 180 degree in the settings.

How exactly should you set the shutter speed for 180 fps VFR for example? The minimum shutter speed is locked at 200(not degrees). Is 200 good?

Thanks.

Just double your shutter speed based on the frame rate you are shooting.
frame rate 24. Set shutter to 1/50 or 1/48 if your camera doesn't have 1/50. And so forth.

For high speed it's best to not drag the shutter since motion blur isn't good in slow motion. You can go a little faster with no issue. Just do some tests to see what works best for the type of motion you want.

OK, thanks for the response.

I get it now, the GH5 actually shoots the video at 180fps and does the processing in camera to slow motion after capturing the video at 180fps. I thought it was doing something else.

For finishing in 24p, I've always tried to stick to 180° or maybe sliiiightly faster if I'm in a pinch (don't have any more ND). Once you get close to 90° things can get stuttery pretty quick. And of course slower than 180° is almost always too blurry/smeary, unless there's almost no movement in the shot.

However, for finishing at 30p, I've found that I have more leeway before things start looking weird (at least to my eyes). I can easily go to 90° or even a smidge faster, and can go down to maybe 220° degrees or so before stuff goes smeary. Which makes sense to me as having more frames per second is going to somewhat reduce our ability to spot motion blur.

As for locking the shutter angle, that would be a nice option Panasonic could add in firmware. For now I guess just tape over the dial?
