What should i do??

I sold a Panasonic DV1000 Deck to DigitalDan on the forum. We made a deal that we would send the payment and VCR at the same time. The VCR got there in 4 days and i gave him a tracking number.

But its been three weeks since and i still have not got the Money Order he says he sent. He gave me no tracking number or any proof that he sent it. He keeps telling me he sent it, but it hasnt come. He wont do anything about it. The only contact i have with him is on the forum. This seems really shady to me and i am now thinking that i totally got scammed.

What should i do? Does anyone know him and could they talk to him and find out whats going on?

Looks like he made the rounds..

Don't worry I was ripped like that with my DVC80 by DigitalDan o this forums. I won't write about that yet because I'm not sure but camera is not there for around two months. He doesn't reply e-mails and I'm not even sure if the FL adress he gave me is his. I will just make a trip to tampa visit my cousins and all of us will go there and check that adress. Anyways I already accepted the loss, people loose their lifes every day . It is just a camera bad guy will be punished.

I've done one deal with the a member of this forum and it went smoothly. It's hard to sell stuff over the internet because you can't trust people. He sent his check to me before he got the camera. And I told him that I wouldn't deposit it until he got the camera and assured everything was ok. Well, it all went smoothly.

He actually trusted me which was a huge leap for him. But, you can't trust everybody. Use a service to help you next time.

From now on everyone can use me as an Escrow service.

Just send me your gear and money and I'll pass them on...

Seriously though, this sort of crap really pisses me off. Maybe the modmins can help you track this guy down?

That's actually not a bad idea, if people don't mind the delay in transshipment and the added expense of shipping things twice.

'Course Finland might be a bit out of the way for some things. But maybe not, for Europe. Then we'd need someone in the Americas, and someone in the far east.

Het everyone, don't say i didn't try to warn you about "Digitial Dan"...

I absolutely love your site and have learned quite a bit by reading the experiences of other members. I have a very small wedding business on the side and have recently been trying to upgrade my cameras. To make a long story short, another forum member, digitial dan, posted that he wanted to sell a dvc80. I contacted him, and we agreed to meet when I was in Florida on business ( I'm a commercial pilot by day). To make a long story short, he stood me up under very suspicious circumstances. Last week my family and I went to Orlando for vacation. Again we were supposed to meet, again he stood me up. Two days ago I flew into Ft. Meyers, rented a car and was supposed to meet him yet again. After a multitude of unanswered phone calls, we agreed to meet at Dennys (he wanted to meet alongside the highway, and I refused). Again, he stood me up. My point in bringing this to your attention is that Mr. Dan frequents this forum and has offered to sell several cameras if only the buyer "would just send a check to his post office box." IMHO, I think this guy is a total scammer. I don't think he's ever had a camera to sell, I think he just hangs out and tries to catch unsuspecting forum members. If you end up talking to the guy, he seems very reasonable until some sort of performance is required, at that point he has more excuses than you can imagine. Anyhow, I would certainly not tell you how to run the forum, I just really thought I should bring this to someones attention before he destroys the trust that 99% of the other members seem to have. Feel free to call me on this, I can be reached at xxx. Again, thanks for creating this all in the first place!
Todd

[SIZE=+0]i say we set him up - next time he contacts someone wanting to sell - we meet him on a deserted stretch of highway - with 20 of our friends who hide out in the bushes beforehand - and then bum rush his a$$.

Ummm... yeah, why hasn't a mod rung in on this one?? Maybe the moderators of this forum don't want to deal with the buying/selling of gear? I guess that could make sense, but at the very least, they should still ban someone if this happens, right?

Hey Hudson, is there any way we can verify this guy's location from the IP address he signed in with? If the address that was posted can be verified, I could probably be persuaded to catch a flight down there and, uh, "make things right"

Somebody let me know... I'll have to wait on some more cash to hit my account, but I'm certainly open to the idea of "resolving" the situation.

Also, my roommate has a buddy that lives in Lakeland, so I would have a place to stay if I made the trip ;-)

Jarred offered the IP in one of the other threads about this same thing. Dont know if they got it from him yet...

if the goods were inter-state, I mean, they crossed state lines, you can file a complaint with the FBi and believe me, he will pay for his scam. You will be doing the country a favor.

Or he could simply file a complaint with me, and I would cross state lines, if ya know what I mean ;-)

I'll join ya, man. Scammers need to be kicked in the face about three dozen times, just to let them know that you mean business.
