  • Thank you for getting back to me. I am a professional still photographer. The project I am bidding on right now is for a construction client. I am needing to create a running video of a pipeline before construction and after construction. I may have to shoot the video myself or I may be looking to hire someone I can bring with me to shoot the video in addition to editing it. The construction is going to take over a year to complete so the before video would be made in January '09 and the after video wouldn't be made till around Feb '10. It is boring subject matter but hopefully we can make it worth your while money-wise. The job is located in Wilmington, DE and some of the specs are still up in the air but I would like for you to give me a quote for the different scenarios I may need. I'm guessing each video would be no longer then 20-30 minutes. Do you have a professional quality video camera? If so, would you be willing to rent and how much? If not I will plan on renting one. How much would you charge for editing of the two videos alone and how much would you charge if I had you come out with me to shoot the video and edit them as well. Please let me know your rates when as soon as you can so I can put together a quote for my client. At this point I am still in the bidding stages. "
What should I charge? I am a student still but have done a number of professional/semi-professional jobs in the past. Give me your opinion of what you would charge.

I generally charge a rate of $2000/day just to shoot production videos, adding to that if lighting or audio is needed. For editing I charge $60/hr. These prices will vary widely by market, though.

I'm a student, for my first shooting/editing jobs i charged 30-50 an hour depending on how much they could afford, and what the project was.
