what patch to use if I want to maximize recording time & quality combo?

I'll be taking the GH1 on a 3 weeks long vacation.

I see the deficiencies with the stock 17mbps bitrate.. However I also do not need an extremely high bitrate and the law of diminishing return applies. I just want reliable shooting and better quality, but not so high as to limit the recording time on my memory card.

What is a a logical jump from the stock bitrate given what I've stated, is the lpowell reliability patch a good way to go? Or is there a patch with a lower bit rate but still represent a notable improvement from 17mbps?

Hi, I'm new to the Forum, though I have been lurking for some time ! Now that I can Hack my Jul 2010 GH1, I just want to make sure I chose the right Patch, I'm leaning towards the High Reliability Patch. I mainly film Trains in SH Mode and have had mixed results, getting better since I stopped using the iA mode !....learning all the time, but it's a slow process ! I need to be able to film clips of 2 mins or more , an average time for a train to set off from a station and vanish into the distance. Will this Patch be suitable, will it give me the smooth motion that I require ? Up to now I've only filmed slow trains on a Preserved Railway, so 0-25mph max, when I decide to film on the Main Line, speeds could be 60-90mph, would it still be ok? Sorry if this is a bit long winded, but I am new to all this and I am not of the "Twitter/Facebook" generation, so it's taking a while to sink in!....Thank you. P.S....I live in England.
