What monitors/EVF are people using?

Was interested to know what monitors or EVF you guys are using. I looked at the Zacuto Z-EVF which looks nice but not sure if thats a better option than a larger lcd monitor.

I shot in a low light situation last night and had a frustrating time getting focus with the built in lcd/evf so I'm looking for better option.

Any advice is appreciated as well as any links to products that you guys recommend.

I have a Marshall 6.5" LCD, & the Cineroid, but usually prefer focusing with the EVF, especially outdoors in daylight.

I believe only the Cineroid EVF is shipping, & have pre-ordered a Zacuto. Unfortunately Zacuto decided not to add "Focus-in-Red", a feature many find useful.

Other EVFs have been announced, but I have no idea when they're shipping. SmallHD's concept looks interesting, but I wonder if it's going to be a bit bulky when shoulder mounted.

The 6.5" Marshall I mentioned earlier is their "Super Transflective Outdoor Monitor", but even so it's not great outdoors. Better than standard monitors for sure, but not as good as an EVF.

If I were looking for a monitor these days the short list would include TV Logic's 5.6" model, or perhaps one of the recorders with built-in monitors (Sound Devices, Atmos Samurai, Cinedeck Extreme, etc). Not sure how full functioned the monitors on the all-in-one units are, but I've seen the TV Logic attached to an F3, & it looked great, however this was indoors.

I think the group buy is over, but have a look at this thread.

And this.

Any opinions please on the Marshall V-LCD50-HDMI 5" for use primarily for focus assist

Unfortunately Zacuto decided not to add "Focus-in-Red",

This is a major Omission. That feature is the strongest argument for the Cineroid. When using wide lenses, or varifocal zooms, I leave peaking on all the time to follow focus - I find it indispensable.

I had intended to pre-order a Zacuto as well, but will either get another Cineroid or wait for one of the other offerings instead.
