What mode to use for zoom lenses ?

I currently have two zoom lenses (kit lens and Oly 14-54) and since both of them have variable aperture that changes with zoom, is it better to use "Aperture Priority" in both video and stills ? Currently, I use shutter priority (locked at 60) in creative movie mode and either "P" or "Aperture Priority" for stills.

For stills do what suits you. For video recommendation would be shutter speed at 60, preferably in manual mode or else in shutter priority.

If you stop down the flicker isn't too noticeable...the biggest problem is that the lenses are varifocal so it's difficult to zoom while recording without noticeable focus shifts.
