What mic channels do you use?

Just curious to hear what other DVX users do .

When you use a boom mic, do you use one channel for the external mic and then leave the internal mic on the other channel?

And if you had 2 external mics, would you use both of them, or just 1 with an internal or just 1 with no internal.

I have a AT835b directional mic and a AKG C 1000 S Acoustic mic.

I've messed around with testing both mics together and using 1 with an internal and 1 with no internal. - None of it sounds bad. It's all pretty good.

What would most of you guys use in this situation for a feature length film?

Would you go with 2 externals? 1 Ext and 1 Internal? Or 1 Ext and no Internal?

If i've got a audio setup that is solid and I want Mixed Mono then I have an xlr running into input #2 and set both ch 1 &2 for input #2.

If you've got two externals then by far that will be better than using the internal mic. But as long as you (or someone else) is monitoring the audio you should be fine.

For filmmaking, I never use the internal mic unless I'm shooting MOS. And then I turn it on just to have something. Otherwise, I use an external mic on a boom. If I were to supplement, then ideally I'd setup wireless mics on my leads into a mixer and then into the second audio channel. Otherwise, my boom mic goes into both channels.
