I am trying to find a cheap locking tripod plate for the HPX500 but new is $400 after shipping and taxes is just a bit too much for my taste considering its a basic thing.

Any ideas on where to find cheaper Ebay obviously but would like to maybe find an actual store rather than being shipped to me from someone I don't trust.

I would go with the Sony VCT-14 and not the u14 as its more plastic and not as solid if you use the camera on a daily basis.

I have a brand new in box Panasonic SHAN-TM700 Locking Baseplate that came with my HPX500.

$200

Thanks so much you guys, I really didn't feel like dishing out that cash when it could have been used for expendables and such. I am gonna check out the metal knock off one and if that doesn't seem right I could always go with buying Chris's haha

I have the Panasonic and the Sony on two tripods.. although the Sony appears to be built better, the 500 slides in more smoothly, and seems to lock in more securely , with the Panasonic plate... This is not a good place to save money.. I've seen several cameras dump off of tripods in my time, and it's not pretty...

Hey Chris, you still have that locking baseplace for sale? I would buy it if so.

yes, panasonic SHAN-TM700 , still sealed in orig. box, never opened. It came with my HPX500 but I already have several locking plates from my other cameras.
I will PM you soon w/paypal, shipping info.
