What light to buy for interviews at events? To attach to camera?

I will be attending a concert and will be conducting interviews. I will be on the go, so no time or space to set up lights. Do those lights that attach to the top of the camera work?

Are some better than the others?

It will be dark at times and brighter in the lobby. So, I need something that is adjustable.

I agree, and if you have the $$$, the Zylight Z90 give you the additional flexibility of 3200k and 5600k presets as well as the ability to dial in plus or minus green.

Hahaha... you might still need a lighting person.

But my Zylight Z50 even has done a great job. They make great products. And the added functionality of having "colors" in your light is just great for little accents and what not.

I was hoping to avoid having to depend on another person so i can conduct interviews solo. Would the Z50 and or the Z90 do that? For a sit-down interview?

How about standing interviews?

Also it seems that those LED lights are very strong and can hurt the eyes. Ever a problem?

I'd take a Z90 over a Z50.

A single light isn't going to make your interviews look good. You really need a light kit. The Z50/Z90 as well as most other LED lights are more for run-and-gun shooting. People that shoot events... people that shoot court-side etc.

Sitting or standing doesn't really make a difference.

LED's have little throw and are very bright. But I don't know a light that doesn't hurt my eyes when I look directly at it.

He needs to decide if he wants an on-camera light or a light kit. How much he wants to spend. And how much he wants to carry
