Hi all,
Just curious about what lens you are using on FS7 or planning to use?

Will you be getting the 28-135mm? Or use A mount lens like Zeiss 24-70/2.8 like Dan Chung had demonstrated? Or E mount lens with image stablisation? Or you come with a Canon background and just using Metabone adapter/speedbooster with your EF lens?

I love manual lens, for zooms I plan to carry on using RED 18-50 and Lomo 25-80 with PL mount to E mount adapter, and for primes, a set of Minolta MD and OCT19 Lomo standard speed. Also have the e mount Zeiss 24-70/4 which I hate for its auto everything and planning to sell it....
 
I have a set of cinemodded Canon FDs but plan
to use Canon EF zoom lenses for most jobs.

I'm testing the Canon EF-S 17-55/2,8 on a Smart Adapter
and I like it so far. Focal range is somehow to short for me
and the position of the focus ring is not perfect as it sits close
to the camera.

I'm really trying to find one R+G zoom lens that covers it all.
Until today there's no perfect solution. I have the Sony SEL 18-200
and really don't like the slow aperture and the by-wire focus.
I'll try the new Tamron 28-300/3,5-6,3 on my speedbooster the
next weeks. If it's not good enough I'll buy the Canon 28-300/3,5-5,6L
and put it on my speedbooster. But this beast needs support and
therefore a baseplate with rails...
 
I have the 24-70 f4 FF mount I got for the A7s it works very well with the FS7. I also have the "kit" 28-135 on order, and the 18-200 that came with the FS700 (nice range, works fine but is slow and not great for 4K).

I have about a dozen Canon EF's and a lot of old Canon manual glass. I plan to use those as well.

But I think mainly I will use the E-mounts.
 
Modded Contax Zeiss fitted with EOS adapters

+ a Samyang 14mm in EOS mount

So I have the option for using a focal reducer or having them straight.

Wouldn't mind a couple of native E-Mount lenses too to share between the FS7 and A7S.
 
thought about getting the kit 28-135, had it on pre-order, but after a couple weeks of debating...it just isn't wide enough for me. I was really hoping I could justify it as being THE only lens I may need on some lightweight run n'gun shoots, but with only going down to 28 I know I am still going to have to switch lenses... At that point, I felt the money could be spend better elsewhere: Redrock Micro microRemote.

As for lenses I will be using- assortment of vintage Nikkor and Zeiss (ZF and Otus).
 
The lenses that I currently have

Tokina 11-16 - really useful lens, I just wish it had a manual aperture.

Zeiss ZF Primes - 25, 35, 50, 85 - with aperture ring so I don't have to deal with Metabones which is great. These are great for more crew type work where you have time.

Canon zooms - which I have to deal with Metabones :( The Canon 24-105 f4 is great with SpeedBooster since it becomes a 17-75mm f2.8 with IS which is amazing for run and gun. The 70-200mm f2.8 II is an amazing lens. A must have for me.

Also, I have a Canon 100mm L Macro. Great specialized lens for Macro. The barrel doesn't extend, like many macros and it has IS, so it's great when you need it.
 
I'm using the Nikon Speedbooster Ultra with my Zeiss ZF.2 (21/2.8, 35/2, 50/2 & 100/2) and Nikkor 17-35mm f2.8 and 80-200mm f2.8.

I also ordered the Commlite EOS adapter just in case I use any Canon glass.
 
Why isn't anyone thinking about the Sony E mount 18-105 F4 ? It works only for HD and only up to 60 fps, but that covers 99% of my actual work. ... cant beat the price at $600.

How is a lens limited to a resolution/frame rate?

Sharpness.It is how they are made and how many line pairs the glass can resolve.

For example Fujinon came out with a Version 2 of the popular cabrio that is sharper and actually can resolve a 4k image better.
 
No. The issue is not sharpness, but rather the processing power to correct distortion at high frame rates and higher resolutions.

I've been using Canon L series primes and zooms with the Metabones Ultra. This week I'm road testing the Samyang primes. I'm also ordering a non-speedbooster EF adapter.

Some of the Sony A mount lenses look promising but I'd stay steer clear from E-mount lenses until the next firmware update at least.
 
I will add that I mainly used SpeedBooster only for the 24-105m f4 for run and gun / doc and extreme low light to get the extra stop and if I need a wider FOV.

Most production / set jobs, I just use the regular Metabones because it's a Super 35mm FOV and that's what most cinema people understand.

Anybody see what happens with the 18-105 if the footage is loaded into cbrowse? Shouldn't cbrowse be able to correct UHD and 4k footage?

I'm using the 18-105 as my outdoor 'eng' lens of sorts. The zoom is actually nice and smooth which surprised me. hate focus by wire but as a do it all in daylight this lens is great.

These are the other lenses in my bag with the FS7

14mm t3 rokinon cine DS (EF)
18-35 1.8 Sigma (Nikon G) (lens turns canon way and adapter gives smooth iris on lens)
50mm 1.4 Rokinon Cine DS (EF)
85mm 1.4 Rokinon Cine DS (EF)
28-70 2.8 Tokina (Nikon)

Canon 70-200 2.8 is the next lens I want but just a rental item when needed.
 
If/when I do get the FS7, I'll use either a Nikon-mount zoom trio (Tokina 11-16, Sigma 18-35, Sigma 50-150) with the plain-jane Metabones Nikon adapter, or a set of Nikon-modded Leica R primes (boosted or unboosted). That's the general set I've used on just about everything for the past ~2 years.

I may compare the 18-105 vs. a Sigma 17-70/2.8-4 for general purpose 'single lens' work.
 
Neither Catalyst browse nor any other software that I know of will be able to do the computation necessary to correct the 18-105. Only Sony knows if that is even possible. Meanwhile just think of it as an HD lens and be happy we've got that. Hopefully they'll make a version that is like the 28-135. I would gladly pay extra for something like that.

As for lenses- right now I've picked up the Sony PZ 18-105 f4 and knowing its limitations, am more than happy with how it performs. I also just got the older 18-200 non-power zoom ( not the SELP) . After seeing that I could get smooth slow power zooms with the 18-105 I will order an SELP from B&H to see if that works better. Both are intended for run & gun lenses their obvious limitations.

For my F3 I went all Nikon - f2 & 1.4 Duclos-ed ZF primes 28-85 and then Tokina 11-16, Nikon 17-55, 28-70, 80-200 and a Sigma Nikon 50-150.

I'm sticking with that until the whole Dial Speed/Metabones stuff is worked out, though I had though about switching form Nikon to EF for everything so that lens direction was the same. Hate to give up smooth iris change on the Nikon though.
