What laptop do you edit on?

The last link is sanybridge and nvidia 460, sandybridge is curently the best pc platform there is, the previous x58 boards (which i have) are def not as good. The ATI carded ones are on intel pm55 boards which i do not know.
Im the same i prefer Nvidia cards as ive had less driver problems with them than ATI but that could just be bad luck on my part.

Im quite liking the 3rd one myself as ssd boot drive would hold my editor and second drive my offloaded footage. I looked at the alienware laptops and they were still x58 boards which are not as good.

The MSI bunch all have reviews that are unhappy with the keyboard...if they put cheesy stuff out front I wonder about the stuff inside. Great specs though. Durability is a big issue having watched one laptop go blink...dead.

I use the Asus G-74 sx, it has new I7, 8 gigs of ram, usb 3.0 two sata hard drives, 17.3 monitor, 3d ready, nvidia gtx560m with 2gb, blue ray burner. chicklet keyboard (backlit) hdmi, (no firewire, most dont these days) And all for 1,300 from bestbuy, Im happy with this laptop, it smokes my desktop quadcore. Im ready to upgrade the ram to 16 gigs, which is the max for this machine.

Editing on a laptop? I would choose a Dell Premiere M6600. Quadcore i7, Quadro graphics, 16G ram, dual hd's. It can add up but I get a corporate discount. I really don't need a Mac. The memory and hd's you can get cheaper at Newegg.

MacBookPro 17 with 4-core 2.2Ghz i7, 8GB RAM, 300GB Intel 320 SSD.

I use:

Apple Final Cut 6, Motion 2
CS5 After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop
Autodesk Maya
Blender

I've been extremely happy with the performance.

I also have a MacPro 2.66Ghz Tower, 4 Core, 15Gb RAM, but mostly use it for audio work.

Well, I picked up the BestBuy version of the Asus g74sx. Loaded up Adobe cs5.5 suite. What's not to like. Haven't done anything strenuous yet, but I'm sure it will handle it.
The first significant point to arise is the screen resolution. I thought I wanted 1920 by 1080, but settled for 1600 by 900. Good lord the the print is small! I would have been doomed at 1920!
Full HD resolution sounds good but wow...it makes everything tiny! Something to be aware of.

No, I have really good eyesight! If they made a more dense screen for my MBP17 I would have ordered it :) People always complain they can't read my screen. I complain the text is still taking up too much space!

2011 MacBook Pro with internal OWC Mercury Extreme 240 GB solid state drive, eight GBs RAM, i7.

Runs FCS3 and FCPX.

Have Premiere CS5 Windows on Bootcamp partition.

It screams.

Toshiba Qosmio x505-q894, Kingston 256 GB SSD 8 Gigs of ram 18.1 inch screen 1.5gig NVIDIA video card . My desktop became lonely the day I bought it. Adobe's use of NVIDIA's hardware acceleration makes working on AE and Premier a pleasure.
