What kind of SD memory card?

Is there a certain kind of SD card one needs to get (how much space does it need for instance or what brand) or will any one do for saving scene files and such?

Sd cards aren't that complex go with something name brand and the scene files are basically just text files so I would say 128MB would be TONS of room. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is nothing to it.

Yeah, all SD memory cards are the same thing, make sure what you get says SD, not CF, or SM or anything like that. I say you wouldn't need more than 64mb.

Is this required? I don't remember seeing one on the HVX when I used it last month, and we had a scene file set up for the movie... Can the camera remember the 6 scene files on its own without an SD card?

No it's not required to run the six scene files on the camera. Back on the left of the tape drive, where all the ports are (USB, Firewire, ect.) there is a little slot where SD cards go, I believe the DVX100B has this too.

That little part under the letters SD, flips open and it has connectors and the slot there. (I can't find a picture of it opened.)

SD cards are not required, but are handy for saving scene files and swapping them between cameras, etc.

DVX100B doesn't have an SD card slot.

You can use the tiniest, cheapest SD card you can find and it'll work fine for the HVX's scene files.

Yeah, I moved a 256MB SD card from a MiniDV camcorder (it uses it for still photos) into my HVX200.

The very first thing I did was save the original, unmodified scene files to the SD card, and then I adjusted the knee of the scene files where possible.

Next, I customized the camcorder to my liking, and saved those settings to the SD card as well. I now have all my customizations on the SD card and can move them to another camera if needed. This is a terrific feature for those who rent equipment!
