What kind of error/problem is this?

I am shooting my HMC-152 at 720p 25.

In six clips (out of a total recorded time about an hour), a 14–15 frame block appears; and roughly in the same place in the lover RHS of the screen. In some examples, the rectangular blocks are dark grey; in this example, white.

See a short YouTube clip here.

Any suggestions?

This error is visible in the Log and Transfer window (FCP 6.0.5), so is as recorded—I was hoping that it might be a transcoding error (power spike, or the like). I was running off the large battery at the time, recording on to original Panasonic 16Gb SDHC cards.

All suggestions gratefully received. TIA, KL

I have not idea, and those fils do not exist on the card any more.

I have four Panasonic 16G cards; I will use a different one today, and check the footage and report back.

I am hoping it's a card record error.

The strange aspects are:

1. 14-15 frames only; the pixelation begins and becomes a solid block over 2–3 frames, and decays the say way.

2. Completely random; I have shot 15 hours of footage with this camera, all on the same card (why I am hoping it is a card write error). I always format the card in-camera.

3. No error messages in the camera when shooting.

Anyone?

Do you still have the original private folder that you offloaded from the card, or any back up? if so you could try playing the original mts file and see if the blocks appear there.

I have had the same problem use Toate too transcode the clipp then inport it in final cut

@ilauzirika.

Sorry, I misunderstood you: I did re-transcode the original files (I archive two back ups of the orininal card contents) and that blockiness is there in both the original and the re-transcoded files.

I have yet to view all the footage from today, but will report back tomorrow after reviewing.

Cheers, and thanks
