im looking to make my own dolly, and just wana cut thought all the poop and just know what to buy and a set plan.

i dont want one that requires me to have to carry pvc pipes in my car

check this video out, http://skatefairy.com/pixie_dust.htm
(its the second thumb down, the quicktime screen shot)
im looking for somthing to give me that feel, if it helps haha

what do you guys suggest, and how can i get started.

(i searched but feel like i wasnt getting anywhere, and wanted my own personal topic)

The reason people go with the pvc pipes is you dont have to rely on the guy that laid the concrete or asphault to get smooth footage. Heck if you want to film something in the grass or dirt, pvc pipes man!! otherwise build one of these....

that looks cool, but where can i get like the plans for things like that. (like the supplies, and the general directions to build it)

Try http://homebuiltstabilizers.com/index.htm there are some plans there. Not sure if there are any with this particular dolly. I am a picture man, look at it, figure out what I need and go to work. To me it looks like 3/4" plywood with some furring strips (from the same sheet of plywood) to reinforce stability underneath. Glued and screwed to the main portion. The wheels can be found at any hardware store. Air filled wheel barrow wheels. I bet they sell the axle's for those wheels too. Using pipe clamps from the plumming section to hold the axle in place. Something along those lines.... Good luck bro. I would like to see some sweet skater footage man.

I'm pretty sure that the Angel Dust stuff was shot from a skateboard. Just stand on one and get someone to push you around. Can't get simpler than that.

ive filmed a lot of stuff like that the past 9 years and its never going to look that good unless its a dolly of somekind,

yea what is this ladder dolly your talkin about

kuzmadvx, you're right. Most of the footage is very smooth, and in a straight line. Probably a real dolly.

However, if you look at the footage, at 0:18 there is a shot that is clearly hand held and wobbly, but in slow mo it looks a lot smoother. The very next shot, at 0:30 shows a guy riding a board and filming with one hand, which seems to explain how the shot at 0:18 was done. For really dynamic chase shots, I can't see a steerable dolly being practical.

i have filmed skateboarding since i was 12 years old, the pop shuv crook at 18 seconds was just filmed skating next to daryl, im not even asking about that

its clearly obvious what is dolly and what is normal longlens or fisheye shots, i just wana know what dolly would be most suitable. (for ex: could you have a track dolly and shorten the length of the legs to be that low to the ground, or does someone think it could be this kind of dolly)

i just wanted a simple supply list

Those skater dollies like that are made for tabletops or countertops. I have seen people bring like a 6' countertop with them to the shoot, level it, and use the skater dolly. However you will see every bump if you put that on cement and roll it.

I think you need to be on the "dolly" holding the camera, with someone helping to guide the dolly. If I were you I would build a pvc style of dolly and practice with it going over some of the terrain you will be covering before you have camera in hand.

Somewhere on the skatefairy website there is a link to Mike Carrols blog, if you look through it, somewhere there is a picture of Ty and his dolly. Looks like a standard dolly with track.
