This is a cool looking piece of gear and I can see its uses, but it ain't no game changer, not when you can handhold a camera then run it through warp stabilizer to smooth out the bumps.
Freefly takes the gimbal off their RC heli, which is a 2 man operation (pilot + operator), and turns it into a handheld device, which is a 3 man operation (unless you're at such a wide focal length with deep focus that you don't need a focus puller). So why the surprise that it's not a 1 man operation?
As for it taking over shooting style... what, steadicam hasn't already? Walking dialogue scenes with multiple 360s, etc??? C'mon!
Not a game changer, but a great tool.
My 2 questions- how much to rent (why does everybody obsess with buying?) and how much time do you need on one to get proficient?
Is it easier, harder or the same difficulty as a steadicam?
