What is up with the Acad. Award broadcast?

I'm sitting at home, drinking a beer (Schlafly Pale Ale, in case you're interested), and watching the awards. This has been a rough show. But the flub that really just saddened me ran about 2 minutes ago. They showed a piece on "the importance of sound editing," narrated by Morgan Freeman. And the audio from the piece had some really nasty phase cancellation.

So... the importance of sound, sounded like crap.

film geek.

The dancing was amazing... but the rest is making me feel like a shlub... not that I can dance like that...

The documentaries have all got my attention. Some powerful stuff there.

I still think Billy Crystal is THE guy for hosting the Oscars (probably even to today, if he'd do it).

I thought the tribute to John Hughes was great. I grew up with his work. He showed me that people cared about regular stories about regular people...if you told them in an interesting way. But I never thought most people took him seriously.

I didn't see this thread on the Oscars so I ended up posting this in the Hurt Locker thread but I'll re-ask the question here...Sandra Bullock:shocked: Best Actress?:shocked:

Sure why not..... It really shouldn't be a shock.

That was definitely one of the more moving parts. Hughes really kick started a lot of careers and I grew up watching his films.

I agree C2V. First the Olympics had crap sound, really bad pop about every two minutes, plus all of the ski stuff had terrible really noisy ambient mixed in with the announcers.

The Oscars too. It sounded as if the sound mixer left a mic in the audience on all of the time when it should have been muted. There was this distracting ambient BG throughout pretty much the whole thing. Amazing, two of the most watched telecasts of the year and both had horrible audio. Who are they getting to mix these things, some intern? Pathetic. Can't even blame just NBC since ABC carried the Oscars.

His hatred grew after Titanic dipshi*. Everyone in hollywood hates Cameron btw.

His hatred grew? He disappeared. He went off to make documentaries and pioneer 3D in order to make Avatar. Cameron hasnt been a face in Hollywood in almost 10 years.

The academy doesnt hate Cameron. His movie has filled the pockets of so many. His crews hate him. He is a douchebag. For as brilliant as he is he is a complete shi* of a human being.

Get a clue.

I think Colonel Mustard killed Professor Plum with the lead pipe in the library.

Wait... I thought Michale McKean killed Lee Ving in the hall, with the revolver.

Or, was it Eileen Brennan?

One plus two plus one plus one...
