What is this?

I believe it's showing the focus readout on the lens, so the AC can clearly see what the focus is set at and can (presumably wirelessly) pull focus.

That's what I thought, but the numbers jump around a lot and I'm not sure were always in feet inches. Plus, wouldn't that info just be on their wireless FF remote?

I was thinking it might be a wireless tape measure based on how fast the numbers are jumping around? FF are usually more smooth in my experience for the speed they were jumping...

I would REALLY like to get a manufacturer/product page for whatever these are to settle it definitively (instead of people guessing/presuming/assuming).

It is for focusing and measures in feet and inches. If the camera moves or whatever the IR laser is pointed at moves then it will change the reading. It could have been jumping from the actor to the background for the reading, causing the numbers to jump around. Also, most of the time in that bts video they're showing you the camera when it's not actually rolling, so there was probably crew walking around on the set, causing it to jump around.
