What is this?

Hi,

I am making myself a wireless video transmitter and receiver system for my steadicam setup and I want to power it off the steadicam sled. The steadicam has a power plug on the sled and it came with a cable ending in this plug... I just wondered what it was called so I could buy a socket and build it into the video transmitter...

Thanks,

Pete.

That's a "Lemo" (brand/type) Connector ... but Lemo makes hundreds of connectors.

What model Steadicam? And how many pins in that connector? - Normally a connector like that plugs into the stage, what's on the other end of the cable?

Hi,

On the other end of the cable is a locking 4pin DIN, female.

The stage has a female lemo, with two pins. Its to provide 12v DC to the camera.... I found lemo connectors on RS but I cant find the right size etc etc

Yeah, that end you showed should plug into the Steadicam. The other end of the cable is then in deed a 4-pin XLR. What you need is a 4-pin (male) XLR connector on your accesories.

Hi,

Its a steadicam flyer.

Thats the plug I have... Its a 4 pin DIN. I have the male one.

The cable that came with the Flyer will in deed have an XLR-4 (Female) connector on the end.

The one on the left in this picture:

The device you are powering needs a XLR-4 (Male) connector - that's the one on the right.
And here's a panel mount version (as found on most/all larger professional video/TV cameras for example):

Heh, figures.

RS also stocks Lemo. The Flyer uses a Lemo "2B" connector for that power socket & plug, if I recall correctly.
