My Dad's business has a box that is hooked up to two computers A Dell And A Apple g4. it is like a brakout box so all you have to do is press a button and you can go from one computer to the other! What is this thing called.
Buy a good one. Make sure it breaks, before makes contact. Some of the cheap ones are crap. And some computers barf with them. The good ones will trick the computer into thinking the keyboard etc. are there all the time. i.e. you can boot with the switch on the other computer and the booting computer will still think there is everything connected and boot clean. No missing keyboard/mouse error. Get a good/smart one.
Thanks A Lot See the reason why i asked was because i'm also am getting a second computer soon instead of the DVX and somone told me about the box but didn't know the name. Thanks A Bunch
They are more commonly referred to as a KVM switch (Keyboard/Video/Mouse). While both KMM and KVM are correct language, most online shopping and computer stores list it as a KVM.
And I've got one from IOGear that also switches the speakers & microphone.
A good thing to have, if you think about it.
But one thing to watch for...the cables that come with these things often aren't quite long enough at the computer end, if you use a soundcard rather than the built-in mobo sound. The cable are designed for an ATX form factor and you have to streeeeeeeetch the cables, or add extensions to the soundcard.
