What is the DV_CMD sel in camera mode?

I don't have a camera manual but I picked up a DVX100A and a DVX100B
for a shoot tomorrow. I've been going through the camera menu (one of them
wouldn't record at first because of a control setting left by the previous renter.)

Under "other functions" in the camera menu, "DV_CMD SEL" is set to "REC_P"
which I'm guessing I want because we want to shoot 24P. The other option is
"stop". What does that mean? Thanks.

The Panasonic site has PDFs of the Operating Instructions -- the manual.

It's at the bottom under "Support and Resources" and it's called Operating Instructions.

CMD_SEL determines what control signal is sent out of the Firewire port when the red record button is pushed, whether it sends only a "Stop" message or whether is sends a "Pause" message. Some equipment needs this signal when recording off the Firewire port to know when to start and stop recording.

You should download the PDF version of the manual and read it and take it with you.
