what is the deal with 24pa?

We are experiencing so many problems with PP1.5 I import the footage 24p and it looks fine... smooth. But if I export it ... Microsoft DV avi with a 24p advanced setting on video, It comes out unwatchable. jittery and flashing. If I export it with DV (ntsc) with 29.97 frame rate it comes out smooth. But upon creating a dvd thru encore after that, it comes out jittery.

Why even have the 24p advanced option if it comes out unwatchable, when I filmed in 24pa and captured under the only option for 24p that premier 1.5 has. I am still searching post archives for more answers. I cannot find a straight answer.

Not sure I understand exactly what's going on, but here is what I can tell you: PP 1.5 is buggy with 24p. If you shoot with 24pa, and edit in a 24p timeline you should have no problems. This is the method I use and it works great.

K-Dawg, if you're planning on buring it to DVD using encore, use the export, media option and pick DVD Mpeg 2 or whatever it is. It's clearly marked there. If you want to watch it on WMP, export it as an uncompressed AVI.

If you export it using the DV AVI setting, it probably won't work with Media Player (for some reason media player doesn't like that codec), but try to burn it to DVD anyway to see if it comes out alright.
