What is the better low light camera?

Timur, where's my noise? You promised when I bought the HVX, I would get all this noise? I don't get it. Where's my noise?

Sorry, what exactly do you mean by low-light?

Run and gun night club scenes. Little light

I shoot night club scenes, and other low lit envirnments. Its all run and gun.

All the HD camcorders are awful in low light, as compared to their SD counterparts. The HVX and XHA1 and HD100 are all basically comparable. The Sony V1U is much worse, but the Z1 (while less sensitive) has cleaner noise.

You can use noise reduction features in the XHA1 to allow you to use more gain, but the tradeoff is that those features can make ghosting artifacts in your footage.

Yeah, I read somewhere that NR1 at its lower setting can reduce noise substantially.
But, like barry said too much would result in Caspers.

I also read that you'll be better off getting both NR1, & NR2.
They both have there own unique features.

How much do they run?
Does anyone know?

related question here:

I shot some nightclub footage recently, and I was shooting everything in 24p (other footage was some bars/clubs, but also different scenarios) and in the dark clubs it looked really really dark.

I shoot on the DVX 100A and another shooter with me was using a Canon XL1 and his footage in the club was much better as far as brightness.

Should I have shot the club footage in 60i? Would that have given me better lighting? And/or does the XL1 just shoot better in low-light situations?

60i is a stop brighter than 24p. When the client doesnt care, 60i is a better choice in a bar/club scenario.
