I formatted a drive accidentally. What UNFORMAT program that works and is reliable and virus free would you recommend? :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

You are not looking for an 'unformat' program, but a 'disk recovery' program. I don't know of any for the Windows world, and it has been a while for me to have to do this for my Mac.

But in terms of finding one that is not 'virus' laden, you need to think about buying a program and look to industry 'news' sites that give reviews on such tools.

While that doesn't preclude getting some virus, since some commercial packages have inadvertently spread various malware/virusware, one has a far better likelihood of getting a clean application, than getting some 'free' tool that is just waiting to infect your machine.

turn OFF the computer and do not do ANYTHING with it until you have a set of commercial utilities from a known source that will recover the HDD.

Doing anything on the computer could inadvertently change things on the HDD making it more difficult to recover the data. Also whilst once in a blue moon a commercial program has been infected, AV and recovery systems are so worried aunt it they take a hell of a lot of care that this does not happen. The question is: is the data on the formatted HDD worth less than a commercial recovery tool? If so it's probably not worth the effort to recover it.

If the data is worth saving then go and buy one of the leading recovery programs for your PC/MAC from a reputable supplier. trying to save $10 could be expensive in the long run.

The free version should work fine and it's a reputable company. I've used it myself and found it to be quite good.

As the paid version is $25 and you would get support etc why go for the free version? Is all that data worth less than $25? If it is worth less that $25 we know the value of your work....
Can you video my corporate event for free?

If the free version can't recover it, I guarantee the paid version isn't going to help, support or not.

Just surprised you think all his data, imams, video etc. is worth less than $25.....
DO you work for free? IF not why do you expect others to?

What I normally do with software in a situation like this is try the free version first. If it works, I'll generally pony up for the paid version as a token of appreciation.
