What is Sw and Auto Sw Mode?

Ok, I've read the manual and have a good understanding of all the settings in the two menus, but what does SW stand for? I guess i'm being thick, but I cant work it out, google it or see it in the manual. (or search here as it is only 2 letters)

Sorry for the stupid question.

Thanks

It refers to the the 'AUTO/MANUAL' SWitch which is just under the LCD (at the bottom on the far right).

The Auto SW menu lets you control which options you want to use when you switch from 'AUTO' to 'MANUAL'

So you can set the camera to use Auto Iris, AGC, White Balance, and/or Focus.
It can be handy for 'run and gun' type situations - you flip one switch and only those functions that you set in the AUTO SW menu will go to auto mode.

So, for example, you can set your camera to go into Auto Iris and Focus, but still keep your manual white balance and gain settings
(or any other combination you might want of those four options).

EDITED TO ADD:
And yes, this is covered in Barry's book as well as in the Bootcamp DVDs.
I can't recommend those enough if you really want to know this camera inside and out.

Thankyou for clearing that up.
It makes sense.
I was, and am surprised that there is no reference to this in the manual, as in, what sw meant, or which switch.
I would never criticize my amazing new camera which i am obviously still learning about, and yes i will be getting Barry's bits soon, but maybe if it had said SW AUTO MODE, and SW MANUAL MODE it would have been clearer. ( I understood what it was referring to, but why SWitch mode, and Auto SWitch).
I was expecting Barry's Book to help me get the most out of the camera, not to teach me basics of how to use it.

Thanks again
