What is special in Sony FS-100 1080/60p PS recording format?

I'd like to find out what I can do with it? I'm thinking to shoot some fast action with it in case to be able to decide later wich part of it I can use with slow motion effect... and wich part will be able to convert to standart 24p for normal speed...
.. .and also - Why in Manual I see:
"You can save movies that have been recorded with [ 1080/60p PS] or [1080/60i FX] of [ HD REC FORMAT] on an external media device only." ( this is on page 29 of manual for NEX-FS100U/FS100N/FS100UK/FS100NK cameras )
I really don't understand what they are trying to say by that ... I try to shoot a little in 1080/60p PS format and copy the result to my computer... and don't find any problems with it..
My English is not so good, so maybe someone here can help me to find out the proper answer for all of this ?

Thanks in advance!

By my interpretation, it's not quite as exciting as it sounds.

One of the 'features' of the FS100 is it's 'oh so exciting' AVCHD recording format, which - in theory - mimics the way BluRay media works. Practical upshot: record on FS100, put media into BluRay device that accepts SDHC card or USB device, and your BluRay device can play that back on an attached screen. Whoop, whoop.

However, the wonderful 1080p50/60 format, with its extra 4 mbits bitrate, has absolutely no hope of playing back on BluRay devices in its raw state.

So...

"you can save movies...." but you can't play them.

BTW, USB thumb drives work, USB desktop (powered) drives work, USB-powered drives (e.g. WD Passport) don't work. I've got a whole movie on this that will, in time (sigh), get on the Sony EU website. When they hit the server, will let everyone know. Until then... I'm here.

I would say that presently most people who shoot 1080p60 plan to use it for slow motion scenes, or see it as 'future proofing' their raw footage and transcode their edited material to 720p60 or 1080i60 for present-day viewing.

Meanwhile, computers and some hard-drive based players can play the raw clips.
