What is Hollywood using?

Steve,

Any machine can get the job done. It's all about the little things. My opinion is, your time is vaulable. The less time you spend dicking around with burning extra dvd's and all that jazz the better. If my career is at stake, money really is no object, in my opinion.

Well, I'll be using the Sound Devices 744 soon, and that may get me to shy away from the PD-6 a little, although there might be times when I need more than 4 channels ( I know, hook up two 744s). But I can defintely see where people would have problems with the PD-6, so your points are valid.

Steve

The 744 is a cool machine. You'll like it. If you need more than 4 tracks, then a Deva IV or Deva V is really the way to go.

The place I rent from doesn't have the Devas, but I could go across town to a different place to rent them. I may do it just for fun and see how I like them. I certainly don't doubt their quality or intuitiveness. Just haven't had a chance to play with one.
